One Good Option - Park City, UT July 10

I think this is an excellent race option:

July 10th -- TriUtah Echo Triathlon, Echo Reservoir, Coalville, UT, Sprint and Olympic distance open water swim triathlons, Sprint road: 750 meter Swim/20K Bike/5K Run, Olympic road: 1.5K Swim/40K Bike/10K Run, Utah’s BEST open water triathlon courses for the swim, bike and run.

It is a well-established race run by a reputable organization, so it is very unlikely that they'll change the date last minute or cancel due to lack of participation (unfortunately I think most of the races in Idaho during July are so small that they're very likely to be changed or cancelled as they've actually done several years in the past). They're doing both Sprint and Olympic distances, so we'll have lots of options for participation as individuals or relay teams. The race is very close to Park City, which means we can probably find good rates on some ski lodge accommodations for the whole group of us together. We can have a family reunion in Park City (including the Wuthrichs and Uncle Bruce and other Utah relatives we don't see very often) with a triathlon as one of our main activity events. It is rather far away from the Tri-Cities, but who doesn't like a little road trip now and then.

What do you think???

Start Training for 2010!!

With all the athletic ability in our family and with so many of us doing various races of all types and distances, some of us cousins were talking this summer and decided a family reunion centered around a triathlon would be fun for Summer 2010.

Family members could do the whole race, participate with others on a relay team or yell and scream in one of many strategically placed groups of cheerleaders.

I'm researching race options and I'll find a couple options for us to choose from. I've contacted some race directors and most don't quite have their race dates for 2010 firmed up yet. I'm looking for a race in the month of July to minimize conflicts with school and other activities.

This blog will serve as a means for us to share ideas and coordinate details. Stay tuned!
